English version  in the footer

**************************************************************************************************************

When I received Zalando’s mail with the invite for this trip to Berlin, I was over the moon!

Berlin has always been one of my favourite European cities and, few times, I could visit it far and wide. But, every time I go back there, I always find something new, stimulating, cutting-edge and absolutely creative.

It is a city full of contrasts, which I love so much.

An e-commerce giant like Zalando, opened its doors to very few Italian, Polish and Spanish Bloggers, in order to show us how works a world we just see as a wonderful website where it is possible to shop, buy clothes, accessories and shoes. The inner workings is very demanding and there are different steps to reach the final results and the website we see on the web.

There are a lot of people who work behind a single photo, a single page, a project, an idea.

Zalando was born from an idea of two young boys, David Schneider and Robert Gentz, who decide, in 2008, to launch a start-up which provide for a website for the online sales of only shoes.

Today in Zalando work more than 10.000 people and the website is known to everybody and it sells in as many as 15 countries in all over Europe.

Today, anyone buys something online and on Zalando you can find everything, from clothes to accessories, not just shoes.

When we come in the warehouse, I was very astonished!

I could see for my self a reality, until then, I could only imagine.

It is difficult to imagine what is behind a so very successful online sales website and this is why this experience has been very exciting.

There is a real assembly line, but super fashion, within this old warehouse located in the East Berlin area. If you look out the window you will see the Berlin wall, today embellished by different artists who decorate and color it.

There are different Boxes where everyday were took pictures of clothes, accessories and outfits; different models follow one and another within these photo boxes and they pose for the continuous shoots.

Everything has a time which was marked by some supervisors who monitor not to exceed times.

Then, photos were given to graphics, which perfect them and then were uploaded online for the product sale.

What was most fascinating to me are the mannequins on which were photographed single products laid down on these plastics which are divided into man, woman, curvy, petite, athletic, etc…

The artwork is awesome, they even remove all lines from sweaters!

My Italian crew was composed of Elena Schiavon of Impulse Mag, Arianna Chieli of Fashion Bla Bla, Alessia Canella of Style Shouts and Gian Maria Sainato.

It goes without saying that, given this very difficult period for me after Dora’s death, I was serene because there were two friends as well as two colleagues with me, Arianna and Elena. I share a lot of things with them, outside work too, I confide in and compare myself to them.

We stayed in a wonderful hotel, the Nhow. In our room a total pink furniture (that I loved it!) and a beautiful gift were waiting for us!

Besides the gift chosen on Zalando, also a beautiful portrait by the great Paper Lookbook!

In the afternoon we moved to another Berlin area, to the discovery of Kiomi brand, which, personally, I didn’t know but i really admired it especially for its lines and candid/clear/simple style which I often use.

Through social live I asked you some advice about what item choose and you suggest me a pair of gray ankle boots which you will get to see me wear soon!

During the afternoon event, a couple of guys customized bags which were donated to us just before and I, always because they told me that I have to grieve, I decided to dedicate this bag to Dora…

The bag was realized by guys of www.jacka.amsterdam

The day ended with a beautiful dinner all together where we laughed, joke around and just cut ourselves some slack from work, consignments, photos and what is all about our work.

I would like to thank Jessica and, in particular, Zalando staff for making this beautiful experience possible.
